On this site you will find information about queer life and language in Germany, and how to integrate LGBTQIA+ discourse into German language classrooms. The foreign language classroom is a space in which students discover new ways of perceiving the world and the people in it, while discursively forming their own identities and values. In order to create a classroom that is inclusive, safe, and engaging for LGBTQIA+ students, German curricula must challenge traditional instructional methods and address the significance of gender and sexuality throughout German history and culture while adapting to new sociolinguistic developments such as non-binary pronouns.
